Dr. Pride Abongwa joined the Geology program in the Department of Science and Mathematics at Texas A&M University-San Antonio in 2018. Before arriving San Antonio, Dr. Abongwa was a Visiting Assistant Professor of Geology at Whitman College, Walla Walla, Washington, in 2017 and as a Visiting Assistant Professor of Geology, Oklahoma State University, Stillwater, Oklahoma, from 2015.
Dr. Abongwa’s research interest is in the energy-water nexus: carbon in the environment; water resource evaluation (quantity and quality) and ecological conservation/nutrient cycling. These themes are studied in areas such as water-rock interactions, groundwater-surface water interactions, bio-remediation of hydrocarbon produced water, groundwater flow in porous media, spatial and temporal monitoring of the behavior of carbon in hydrological settings, and biogeochemical studies in wetlands and ecological management
Dr. Abongwa received his Ph.D. in Geology from Oklahoma State University, Stillwater, Oklahoma, in 2014, a Master of Science degree in Hydrology and Water Resources from IHE Institute of Water Education, Delft, The Netherlands, and a Bachelor of Science Degree (Hons.) in Geology from The University of Buea, South West Region, The Republic of Cameroon.
