Dr. Mariya Davis

Dr. Mariya Davis is an Assistant Professor of Special Education in the College of Education and Human Development at Texas A&M University-San Antonio. Dr. Davis teaches undergraduate and graduate courses on educational tests and measurements in special education, instructional and behavioral programs for the exceptional child, professional collaboration in inclusive settings, transition, behavior management, language disorders, and advanced practicum in special education. Her research interests include assessment in special education, inclusive practices for students with disabilities, family engagement, transition, and professional development. Dr. Davis is a proud alumna of Texas Woman’s University, Denton, TX. She holds two Master's degrees (in Secondary Education and Special Education) and a PhD degree in Special Education from Texas Woman’s University.

Dr. Davis is passionate about serving and advocating for students with disabilities and their families. A former high school science teacher, a special education teacher, and an educational diagnostician, Dr. Davis is currently serving as the President for the Texas Council for Learning Disabilities and the Secretary for the Texas Division for Career Development and Transition. She is also a member of three subcommittees of the CEC Division for Career Development and Transition: Research to Practice, Career and Technical Education and Transition, and Employment Research.
