Dr. Pittman

Dr. Ramona T. Pittman is an associate professor in the Department of Educator and Leadership Preparation. She has been at TAMUSA since 2011.  Dr. Pittman has seven years of teaching experience in PK-12, which includes being an elementary teacher, a reading and language arts middle school teacher, and a Title I Secondary Reading teacher (Interventionist). She holds the following certifications:  EC-12 Master Reading Teacher, PK-12 Reading Specialist, EC-12 Principal, and 1-8 Classroom Teacher.  Dr. Pittman teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in literacy. Her research interests include:  literacy development, spelling, preservice teachers’ literacy knowledge, and literacy outcomes for African American students. She has presented at numerous national and international conferences and has published in a variety of journals.  Dr. Pittman serves on many committees at the university.
