Dr. Theresa Garfield

Theresa Garfield, Ed.D., earned her doctorate from the University of Texas at San Antonio and completed post-doctorate work in special education at Northcentral University. She currently serves as an assistant professor in special education and program coordinator at Texas A&M University San Antonio. Her prior experiences include teaching for nine years and serving as department chair at Palo Alto College and teaching Life Skills and 1st-5th grade general and special education in an inner city school district. Her research interests include the accessibility of quality education for all learners, pre-service teachers’ beliefs and the impact of those beliefs in the classroom, self-advocacy, and the way the environment impacts the identification and over-identification of diverse learners.
