We will never forget
Dr. Edward Westermann, associate professor of history and the first Distinguished Scholar-in-Residence of the San Antonio Holocaust Museum, has been delivering lectures around the country on the history of the Holocaust. He was a facilitator and presenter at the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington, D.C. for a workshop on the Prevention of Mass Atrocity for service academy faculty (May 28-31); delivered the opening address at the Association of Holocaust Organizations annual conference in Austin, TX (June 1-2); and presented at the Holocaust Educational Foundation retreat on key issues in Holocaust studies in Chicago, IL (June 3-7). Thank you for your work in ensuring that future generations will "never forget."
Continuing the agricultural tradition
Congratulations to Andrew Brooks '11, who, only two years after earning his M.B.A. at Texas A&M-San Antonio, was appointed the new vice president of marketing at Certified Hereford Beef LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of the American Hereford Association. A native of Elmendorf, Texas, Andrew received his bachelor's degree at Texas A&M University in agricultural economics. Find out more about Andrew.
A student's dream to meet her heroes
Sandra Silva, a student teacher candidate in the Teacher Preparation and Certification Center, accompanied Dr. Theresa Dorel, assistant professor of special education in the Department of Curriculum & Kinesiology, to the Second Annual Effective Educators Seminar held at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge (June 10-11). The organizers are Drs. Harry and Rosemary Wong, the authors of the seminal text on classroom management, and happen to be Sandra's personal heroes and inspirations for becoming a teacher. Meeting them made the two-day seminar an experience Sandra will remember forever!
