University Named Military Friendly School

Military Friendly SealUniversity receives Silver ranking for the 2023-2024 Military Friendly® Cycle

SAN ANTONIO — Texas A&M University-San Antonio (A&M-SA) has been designated as a Military Friendly® School for the 2023-2024 Military Friendly® Cycle, receiving a Silver ranking. This marks the sixth time the University has earned Military Friendly® recognition and is the only Texas university to earn the designation in the Small Public category.

“We are incredibly thrilled to be named a 2023-2024, Silver Status, Military Friendly School. A&M–San Antonio’s Office of Military Affairs is grateful for the service and sacrifice of our military community and strives to embrace their strengths while supporting their academic achievement,” said Tila Jernigan, director of Military Affairs.

A&M-SA is a Military Embracing™ institution. One in six students is military connected either as veterans, active military or dependents. The Office of Military Affairs assists military-connected students to succeed academically, while building enduring relationships of mutual support with the University community. Military Affairs also connects these students with helpful community organizations and resources.

Institutions earning the Military Friendly® Schools Awards designation were evaluated using public data sources and responses from a proprietary survey. The Military Friendly® Schools survey is the longest-running most comprehensive review of college and university investments in serving military and veteran students.

Military Friendly® Schools comprise institutions offering certificate programs to doctoral degrees. More than 1,800 schools participated in the 2022-2023 survey, 665 schools earned award-level designations in Gold, Silver and Bronze. The 2022-2023 Military Friendly® Schools list will be published in G.I. Jobs magazine’s May 2023 issue.

Methodology, criteria and weightings were defined by Viqtory with input from the Military Friendly® Advisory Council of independent leaders in higher education. Final ratings were determined by combining the institution’s survey responses and government/agency public data sources within a logic-based assessment. Institutions were measured based on their ability to meet thresholds for retention, graduation, job placement, repayment, persistence and loan default rates for all students, specifically for student veterans.
