Dr. Ernest Thomas
Dr. Ernest E. Thomas currently serves as a Special Education Lecturer in the Department of Educator and Leadership Preparation and a Teaching Specialist in the Educator Preparation Program at Texas A&M University-San Antonio. After a nearly 28 year military career in the United States Air Force, Dr. Thomas began his academic career in the Northside Independent School District where he served 13 years as a Special Education teacher and Special Education Campus Coordinator.
Dr. Thomas received his PhD in Leadership Studies, and a Master of Education from Our Lady of the Lake University in San Antonio, Texas. He also holds a Master of Business Administration from Western New England University in Springfield, Massachusetts, and a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Maryland University College in Business and Management in Adelphi, Maryland.
Dr. Thomas has been a guest speaker at several local high schools and school career day activities. He is also a member of the New Dimensions Excellence Initiative program. This program works with the country of Nigeria in an effort to improve the quality of that countries educational program. He is also a member of several professional organizations that advocate for improved education of students with disabilities.
Dr. Thomas has been published in the Fall 2017 IPA/USA American Association for the Child’s Right to Play online journal. He has also been published in publications directed at families that have school age children with special needs. Dr. Thomas’ research interests are in Behavioral Disorders and Autism Spectrum Disorders.
