Progress begins with a brave decision for women on a mission to create a better life for themselves and their families. The decision isn't about taking a step back – it's about taking a step forward. Two steps forward. You desire to be better, go further, and never settle. Texas Two-Step for Women In Technology allows you to recognize your inner abilities and talents, sharpen the skills you already have, learn new ones, and propel you forward in your life and career.
Step One.
Mission: Future.
Progress begins with a brave decision for women on a mission to create a better life for themselves and their families. The decision isn't about returning to school—it's about moving to the future. You desire to be better, go further, and never settle, and Mission: Future allows you to recognize your inner abilities and talents, sharpen the skills you already have, learn new ones, and propel you forward in your life and career.
Topics in the Mission: Future Series include:
- Networking
- Financial Leadership
- How to Conquer the Virtual Interview
- Your Career Development Toolbox
During Mission: Future, you will uncover your top five exceptional talents—and discover exactly how to turn these talents into strengths. You will meet with a Gallup Certified Strengths Coach who will guide you through the process, allowing you to learn how to use these strengths to achieve your career goals.
Hands-on learning—sometimes called experiential—is a powerful tool. People simply learn better when they're allowed to roll up their sleeves and experience the subject matter rather than being distanced from it. The Mission: Future program is designed to help you transfer this hands-on learning directly from the classroom to the workplace and will provide numerous hands-on learning opportunities so you can experience working in the field of technology.
Step Two.
Technical Training
Regardless of age and experience, many success stories begin with earning IT certifications. You'll prepare for the CompTIA Security+ Exam in the second step of the program. More than a resume builder, IT certification validates certain skills and gives you a healthy, all-around confidence boost.
The CompTIA certification is recognized worldwide and is approved by the US Department of Defense. The course contains a variety of content presentation methods to help teach the concepts and vocabulary, and ultimately, learners are given ample opportunity to assess their skills with a multiple-choice practice exam.
Along the way, you'll learn how to:
- Compare and contrast various types of cyberattacks
- Describe the installation and configuration of network devices
- Implement secure network concepts
- Evaluate secure cloud, virtualization, and embedded systems concepts
- Install and configure identity and access services
- Compare various access control models
- Explain risk management concepts
- Explain incident response procedures
- Evaluate disaster recovery and digital forensics concepts
- Compare and contrast the characteristics of different cryptography algorithms and public key infrastructure (PKI)
Finally, you'll take the CompTIA Security+ Exam. This allows you to complete the program, having obtained a helpful certificate that can open many doors, experiences in the industry, and the career skills for your next step.
