VP President for Enrollment Management

Reporting to the President, this position is a key member of the Cabinet. The VP will play a critical leadership role in all aspects of data-driven strategic enrollment management. The VP will bring an established record of accomplishment and have an appreciation for recruiting in historically underrepresented markets and fostering targeted markets at the undergraduate and graduate level. The VP should have comprehensive knowledge about enrollment management, admissions, and financial aid and have the ability to execute innovative practices that will support access and degree attainment for undergraduate and graduate programs.

As the university continues to grow new academic programs, this person must have expertise and the ability to lead in a dynamic, highly competitive environment. The VP must have stellar leadership talents, an innovative can-do style, and the aptitude to collaborate with a diverse population.

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Provide creative and energetic leadership in the data-driven development, execution, and ongoing cycle of strategic enrollment management that advances the Strategic Plan. Lead the implementation of a robust student recruitment plan and admissions practices. 
  • Establish and implement the strategic direction and priorities for enrollment management.
    • Guide the creation of an overall strategic enrollment plan in consultation with various audiences that can help achieve enrollment goals.
    • Collaborate with deans and other academic leaders to produce short- and long-term enrollment goals and effective marketing strategies aimed at optimizing enrollment opportunities in targeted programs.
    • Provide comprehensive statistical and data-informed analyses necessary to make sound policy decisions supporting new enrollment markets while sustaining and growing existing markets.
    • Lead and coordinate the activities of admissions and financial aid to ensure student access and overall degree attainment.
  • Lead the development of strategies that leverage financial-aid awards in a manner that enhances the overall student body and expands opportunities for timely degree attainment.
  • Create strategies and division-wide initiatives that effectively support the recruitment and retention of a diverse and inclusive student body in a manner that complements the culture and university’s core values.
  • Proactively build and support a comprehensive pathways program for recruitment and admission initiatives with a broad array of community colleges, early college credit, and military transfer programs to ensure student access to and success at the university.
  • Proactively monitor and assess data to evaluate the effectiveness of recruitment efforts and financial-aid programs, including social media, marketing, and other emerging technologies that enhance yield with potential students and their families.
  • Optimize use of available federal, state, and institutional resources in the recruitment and retention of students. Ensure campus compliance with all federal and state agencies’ regulations and policies. 
  • Evaluate and improve the practices of the student-enrollment experience, including timely, effective, and positive engagement with students and families throughout the entirety of their experiences with admissions, financial aid, and registration.
  • Develop and use existing and emerging technologies to communicate and build relationships with students, families, community colleges, and secondary school leadership.
  • Collaborate with University Advancement to execute the University’s vision as presented on the admissions and financial-aid website and in other digital and social media.
  • Lead the collaboration between University Advancement and the Enrollment Management division to identify, prioritize, and proactively implement scholarship plans.
  • Collaborate with the VP for Student Affairs to leverage the student-life experience and residential-life program with first-time and transfer students, maximize housing occupancy, and engage students in a vibrant campus life to optimize retention and graduation rates.
  • Collaborate with the VP for Academic Affairs to leverage operations that align with academic-program priorities and student academic-success initiatives.
  • Lead division-wide process improvements and change-management initiatives, including the deployment of technology and other resources within enrollment management.
  • Create a visible profile within the campus community and University constituencies in order to foster collaborative relationships essential to enhancing communication efforts.
  • Serve as a catalyst with to assess market demand and trends to create comprehensive statistical and data-informed analyses necessary to advise other campus leaders about policy and/or strategic initiatives.
  • Provide leadership and management best practices to develop a strong sense of teamwork, equity, and investment in our mission across all functional areas.
  • Establish an environment of mentoring and support.

Qualifications:

  1. Demonstrable leadership in higher education strategic enrollment management, including data-driven programs, budgetary and personnel responsibilities, enrollment management planning, contract management, and program development.
  2. Leadership experience with current best practices in enrollment management, admissions, financial aid, and registration.
  3. Demonstrated experience with current and emerging technology (hardware and software solutions) related to recruitment, admissions, and financial aid.
  4. Demonstrated experience with process-improvement initiatives and leadership in change-management environments.
  5. Demonstrated knowledge of national and state issues related to higher-education policies and practices influencing enrollment management. 
  6. A record of dynamic, collaborative, proactive, visionary, and ethical leadership.
  7. Excellent interpersonal, communication, management, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  8. Ability to work with professional integrity and discretion.
  9. Experience with collaborative retention strategies.
  10. Leadership experience in supporting a diverse student population.
  11. Knowledge and leadership experience in supporting a culture of inclusion and multicultural competence.
  12. A master’s degree is required, but a doctorate or other terminal degree is preferred.
