Frequently Asked Questions

How do I contact University Police in an emergency?

For an emergency on the Texas A&M University–San Antonio campus, call 210-784-1911 from your cell phone or 911 from a campus phone. University Police emergency assistance is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. If a crime is happening now, call immediately instead of submitting an online report.

What is the University Police non-emergency phone number?

Call 210-784-1900 for non-emergency police assistance, to report a safety concern that does not require an immediate emergency response, or to ask about police services.

What is the SafeZone app, and how do I register?

SafeZone is a free safety app for A&M–San Antonio students, faculty and staff that connects users with University Police during an on-campus emergency. Register using your University email address. When you request help through the app, it shares your location with responding officers. Visit Public Safety Systems for download links and instructions.

How can I receive campus emergency alerts?

A&M–San Antonio uses Jag-E Alert to notify registered users about campus emergencies through text messages, email and/or voicemail. Use the Jag-E Alert login on the Public Safety Systems page to manage your contact information. SafeZone helps you request assistance; Jag-E Alert delivers University notifications.

Can I report a campus safety concern anonymously?

Yes. University Police provides an Anonymous Reporting option. Because officers cannot contact an anonymous reporter for follow-up information, include relevant details about the incident. For emergencies or crimes in progress, call 210-784-1911 or 911 instead.

Can I request a safety escort on campus?

Yes. Students, faculty and staff who feel unsafe walking between campus locations can request a safety escort by calling 210-784-1900 when the escort is needed. Learn more about Safe Walk options on the Programs and Services page.

How do I report a lost item or claim found property?

Call University Police at 210-784-1900 to ask about lost property. The Lost and Found page explains reporting and claiming procedures. To claim an item, bring a valid photo ID and evidence of ownership, such as a receipt, serial number or description of distinctive features.

What support is available for victims of crime?

Victim Services and Crime Prevention provides advocacy, emotional support and information about resources for people affected by sexual assault, relationship violence, stalking and other crimes. Contact the office at 210-784-1906 or OVS@tamusa.edu, or visit the Police Station, Room 124. Explore the Victim Services and Crime Prevention page for additional resources.

Does University Police offer safety training and community programs?

Yes. University Police lists programs including the Citizens Police Academy, Community Emergency Response Team training, A.W.A.R.E. personal safety training and Coffee with a Cop. Visit Programs and Services for descriptions, or email police@tamusa.edu to ask about availability and participation.

Where can I find campus crime statistics and safety policies?

The University’s Annual Security Report and Fire Safety Report includes reported crime statistics, crime-reporting procedures, emergency response information, prevention programs and fire safety information.
