The Economic Power of A&M-San Antonio

As the youngest institution in the Texas A&M University System, Texas A&M University-San Antonio is a powerful economic engine in Bexar County and beyond, driving growth and enriching the community. Our most recent Economic Impact Study, conducted by Lightcast, looked at A&M-San Antonio’s impact in Bexar County and Texas for FY 2022-2023.

Creating Wealth for Our Students

For investing in their education and future, A&M-San Antonio’s students will receive a cumulative value of $427 million in increased earnings over their working lives. A&M-San Antonio students’ average annual return on their degrees is 30% 


 

Supporting the Local Workforce

A&M-San Antonio’s economic impact is equivalent to supporting a total of 3,242 jobs in Bexar CountyIn addition, during FY 22-23, we employed 769 full-time and part-time faculty and staff, with payroll totaling $68.8 million, much of which is invested back into the county. 


 

Taxpayer Returns

For the $94.7 million taxpayers provided A&M-SA, they will see a benefit of $190.8 million from added tax revenue and public sector savings. 


 

Major Benefits to Texas

Social benefits, through increasing the economic base in Texas and savings generated by improving the lives of A&M-SA students, amount to $2.6 billion to society.
