Welcome to the College of Arts and Sciences (COAS). Our offices are located on the third floor of the Science and Technology Building in suite 311.

The Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences is Dr. Debra Feakes.

The College of Arts & Sciences is home to Science and Mathematics, Social Sciences, and Language, Literature, and Arts. The College is comprised of the following academic programs: Biology, Chemistry, Criminology, Fine Arts, Sociology, Political Science, Psychology, Mathematics, Physics, Geology, Geography, History, Communications, English, Spanish, Water Resources, Women's and Gender Studies, and Writing.

  Our first Writer-in-Residence is Laurie Ann Guerrero , San Antonio (2014-2016) and State of Texas Poet Laureate (2016).

The College sponsors The Institute for Water Resources Science and Technology (IWRST) directed by Dr. Rudolph Rosen .

The College of Arts and Sciences offers thirty-six undergraduate degrees,   Master of Arts in English and Master of Science in Water Resources Science and Technology degree. Whether a Bachelor of Arts (BA), Bachelor of Science (BS), or a Bachelor of Applied Arts and Sciences (BAAS) with specific concentration: these degrees prepare our students to excel in an ever-changing world. The Arts and Sciences broad curriculum engages student learning to attain and understand in a culturally diverse environment generating possibilities both beyond and from within to challenge and achieve academic excellence.

Our faculty are committed to student academic development and enhancing professional skills in preparation for post-baccalaureate education and employment by providing opportunities for critical thinking, synthesis, and research. The curriculum builds foundational knowledge required for all academic degree programs at the University, emphasizing communication skills, analytical reasoning, and independent thought. Our faculty excel in teaching, scholarship, and service with a global perspective.
