Transfer from a U.S. Institution
1. Complete the International Admissions Application:
- Submit your application through the GradCas official portal.
- A non-refundable application fee of $69.00 (money order) is required.
2. Provide Official Transcripts:
- Request your current (or most recent) U.S. institution to send your official transcripts directly to GradCAS. For detailed submission instructions, please visit: GradCAS.
- You may also request them to be sent directly to Graduate Admissions:

Important Note: transcripts must be official and in English.
3. English Proficiency Requirements:
*All international students are required to take an English proficiency test unless they qualify for a waiver*

Students transferring from a U.S. institution may not be required to submit an English proficiency test. However, this is determined on a case-by-case basis.
- Based on the review by the College of Graduate Studies, students who have completed at least 12 credit hours with a grade of C or better at a U.S. institution (or in an approved English-speaking country) may qualify for a waiver.
- You may still be asked to provide proof of English proficiency, depending on your academic background.
4. Transfer-In Process:
- After submitting your application:

- Once admitted, the Office of International Affairs will contact you with next steps.

- You will be required to complete a Transfer-In Form to transfer your SEVIS record to Texas A&M University–San Antonio.
Transfer from a Non-U.S. (International) Institution

- Provide official transcripts from all universities attended.
- Transcripts must be in English (or include an official translation).
- No external transcript evaluation is required — the Graduate Office provides in-house evaluation.
3. English Proficiency Requirements:

You may qualify for a waiver if:
- You completed your full secondary or postsecondary education in an approved English-speaking country.
- American Samoa, Anguilla, Antigua and Barbuda, Australia, Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Bermuda, British Virgin Islands, Canada (except Quebec), Cayman Islands, Dominica, Federated States of Micronesia, Gambia, Ghana, Gibraltar, Grenada, Guam, Guyana, Ireland, Jamaica, Liberia, New Zealand, Nigeria, Siant Kitts and Nevis, Santa Lucia, Trinidad-Tobago, Turks and Caicos Islands, and United Kingdom (all).
- Applicants from Puerto Rico, where Spanish is the primary language, are required to submit an English proficiency test.
- You have completed at least 12 credit hours with a grade of C or better at:
- A U.S. institution, or
- An approved English-speaking country institution.
Important Notes:
- Test scores must be sent directly from the testing agency. Soft copies sent via email or through the upload portal will not be used to complete the admission file.
- Scores must be less than 2 years old.
4. After Admission (I-20 Process):
Once you are admitted:
- The Office of International Affairs will contact you with instructions and a list of required documents needed to issue your Form I-20.
- The I-20 is required to apply for your F-1 student visa.
We strongly recommend that you:
- Review visa appointment wait times at your nearest U.S. Embassy or Consulate.
- Begin preparing your documents as early as possible.
