Undergraduate Students

Deadlines for undergraduate applicants depend on whether you are applying as a first-time (new) student or a transfer student.

Conditional Admission

International applicants may be considered for conditional admission, except students on an F-1 visa.

According to U.S. Department of Homeland Security that govern the F-1 student visa, F-1 students are NOT eligible for conditional admission.

  • The provisional issuance of Forms I-20 is a violation of 8 CFR 214.3(k). According to that regulation. A designated school official may not issue a Form I-20 until the appropriate school authority has determined that the prospective student's qualifications meet all standards for admission at the school which has accepted the prospective student for enrollment in a full course of study."

    Texas Success Initiative (TSI) Exam

    What is TSI?

    The Texas Success Initiative (TSI) is a program designed to help ensure that all students enrolled in a Texas public institution of higher education are going to be academically successful. The TSI will determine readiness for college-level course work in the areas of reading, writing, and mathematics. Incoming students that are not exempt are required to take the TSI Assessment to determine their readiness for college-level courses and success in those courses. TSI exemptions can be made based on previous college course work and/or test scores.

    Where can you take the exam?

    Option 1

    If you are in the United States, you can take the TSI exam at A&M University San Antonio. Please contact the Testing Center for more information at:

    Option 2

    If you are out of the United States, you have the option to take the exam online. Please follow the instructions below:

    1. Complete the Pre-Assessment Activity, available online through the Testing Center's website.
    2. Register for the TSI exam: www2.registerblast.com/tamusa/exam/list
      • Select TSI as the Group
      • Select Remote TSI Testing
      • Select TSI at home virtual proctor
      • Continue and complete the registration process.
    3. Verify receipt and print the email for your Remote TSI Assessment.

    Note: You MUST have a good webcam and internet connection while you are taking the exam. More information is available at www.tamusa.edu/testing-center.
