Welcome

Welcome to the Community Health Program of Texas A&M University – San Antonio!

Our mission is to launch the careers of public health-minded professionals who develop and deliver innovative, evidence-based, and culturally responsive interventions to improve community health and wellbeing, especially among underserved populations in Bexar County, South-Central Texas and beyond.

We instill in students a public health mindset, provoking “big picture” thinking and acting:

  • Looking upstream at what prevents people from becoming ill or injured in the first place, and promoting solutions
  • Getting outside a clinic's walls to see that everyone has safe and healthy places to live, learn, work, play and worship
  • Protecting the health and well-being of whole neighborhoods, cities, nations, and the globe

Key program features:

  • Interdisciplinary curriculum
  • Applied learning in the community
  • Small class size and strong faculty mentorship
  • Cultural competency and cultural humility
