Message from the Chair
Welcome to The Department of Computational, Engineering and Mathematical Sciences (CEMS) at Texas A&M University-San Antonio (TAMUSA). Our department provides multiple degrees and certificate programs that help you establish a career in the fast-growing fields of mathematical and computer sciences, cybersecurity and engineering technologies. Advances in Artificial Intelligence, Cloud infrastructure and increasing Cyber threats create healthy and stable career growth prospects and a strong career outlook for our graduates. According to the United States Bureau of Labor Statistics, the median salaries in these fields range from $86,000 - $145,000.
Our faculty are committed to teaching and providing best possible learning experiences to our students. Our class sizes are small and allow for individual attention and interactions. Hands-on learning through laboratories and field experiences and internships ensure our students are exposed to cutting-edge technologies and industry standards. Many of our faculty are also actively engaged in research and provide opportunities for both undergraduates and graduate students to work on innovative projects. All our programs have active student organizations which provide mentoring, networking and leadership opportunities that are valuable for career advancement.
I encourage you to explore our website to learn more about the various degree programs and certifications that we offer. Most of our offices and lab spaces are located in the state-of-the-art Science and Technology Building (STEC) in Academic District I of the beautiful TAMUSA campus. I encourage you to drop by, meet our faculty and students and experience Jaguar hospitality and discuss how we can help build your career in the exciting fields of computational, engineering and mathematical sciences.
We strive to provide our students with leadership skills and values to prepare them for the workplace, for advanced study and research, and for an ever-changing world. Experiential learning in laboratories and internships in local businesses, industry, and the government lay the pathway for rewarding careers in STEM areas. A few graduate assistantships and on-campus job opportunities are available.
