About the Master of Science in Water Resources and Technology Program

Students in the Master of Science in Water Resources Science and Technology Program will gain a holistic understanding of our water resource system and acquire the necessary skills to be succesful in their future water-related careers. The program seeks to expose students to a hands-on learning environment, lab work and internships. Students will be instilled with the concept of a water-centered nexus that expands students' vision, imperative for career advancement.

Application Instructions

  • Complete the GradCAS application
  • Submit application fee ($49 for domestic; $69 for international)
  • Submit the following required documents:
    • Official e-transcripts from all US institutions attended are to be sent to GradCAS through their online order portal. If your institution does not have official e-transcripts available, they can be mailed to the GradCAS processing center.
    • International Students: Credentialing reports of transcripts from all foreign institutions can be sent electronically through the World Education Services (WES) link in the Academic History section of the application or by mail if using another credentialing agency.
      • Provide English-proficiency exam information: TOEFL: 550 (paper-based) or 79 (internet-based), IELTS: 6.0

    • Personal statement outlining the reason for applying for this graduate degree, career goals, and research interests. (1-2 pages)
    • Curriculum Vitae or résumé
    • Letters from three references
    • Supplemental Information Form
      • We strongly encourage contacting potential faculty mentor(s) prior to applying to the program to ensure sufficient space in Faculty labs and compatibility of research interests. Please select up to three faculty members in ranking order of priority.
      • Thesis Track Applicants: This form will also be used to indicate if they would like to be considered for a Graduate Assistantship.

Prerequisites

  • 2.6 cumulative GPA (or 3.0 for last 60 credit hours)
  • 18 credit hours undergraduate coursework in Biology, Chemistry, Geology, Physics, Environmental Science, Engineering, or Aquatic Science

Conditional Admittance

  • 12 credit hours of above disciplines over 3.0 GPA

The Department has the right to examine students' prerequisites, accept equivalent hours, or require additional work.

*Students falling below the GPA minimum are encouraged to apply. Students are evaluated holistically based on several criteria.

Degree Tracks

  • Research Track: 36 credit hours, including 6 credit hours of thesis credits
  • Professional Track: 36 credit hours, including 3 credit hours of research project

Average Time to Complete: 5 semesters (Fall and Spring)
