About the Bachelor of Arts in Sociology & Bachelor of Science in Sociology Program
The Sociology program at Texas A&M University-San Antonio offers a transformative education deeply rooted in place-based learning. We connect the classroom to the unique social landscape of the South Texas borderlands through applied learning. Students choose between two tailored pathways: a Bachelor of Arts for those with humanities and language backgrounds, or a Bachelor of Science designed for students focused on the sciences and data analysis.
Our faculty provide high-impact and individualized mentorship through hands-on undergraduate research in our dedicated lab and a culminating Capstone experience. Students gain a global perspective via Study Abroad (including our popular London program) and local expertise through internships with influential community partners. Our specialized curriculum covers critical issues like borderlands studies, environmental sociology, race and ethnicity, gender, and health. With an active Alpha Kappa Delta (AKD) chapter and a proven track record of placing students in top graduate programs, we empower the next generation of social leaders.
