About the Program

The Bachelor of Applied Arts and Sciences in Fire and Emergency Services Administration (B.A.A.S.-F.E.S.A.) at Texas A&M University-San Antonio is a 100% online program that provides a multidisciplinary approach to fire and emergency services education. The program integrates knowledge of firefighting with a foundation in public sector administration, management, and leadership, preparing students to think critically and analytically about fire service delivery, emergency management and homeland security strategies, and emergency medical services administration. The program is the only A&M system program dedicated to Fire and Emergency Services and is delivered as an online program. Students can use their previous college work and TCFP/State Fire Marshals certifications to qualify for admittance.

The program offers concentration in Emergency Medical Services (EMS), Fire Administration, and Homeland Security.

Career Opportunities

Designed for working professionals, the B.A.A.S.-F.E.S.A. allows firefighters, police officers, emergency medical personnel, military personnel, and others with completed A.A.S. coursework in fire science to combine vocational training, certifications, and college-level general education credits to complete their degree. Texas firefighters who are accepted into the program may also be eligible for tuition exemption under the Firefighters Tuition Exemption Program.

Key Distinctions

The program has been recognized annually as one of the best online fire service bachelor’s degree programs by bachelorsdegreecenter.org, and more than 350 Texas firefighters have earned their degree through the program since 2013.
