About the Ed.D. in Educational Leadership Program
Texas A&M University-San Antonio’s online Ed.D. in Educational Leadership program, pending approval by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC), will provide graduates with a unique set of knowledge and skills that considers educational environments as complex systems, emphasizing transformative leadership and a fundamental role in positively impacting education.
In alignment with the goals of the Building a Talent Strong Texas plan, this doctoral degree will prepare graduates to be the leaders our communities need with specializations in special education, bilingual education, and early childhood education. Graduates with an Ed.D. degree will be strong competitive candidates for school and district leadership positions.

Academic writing sample (5 pages): Submit a writing sample discussing a topic that you may wish to research for your dissertation. Do not use Artificial Intelligence tools (AI) in the generation or enhancement of this writing sample.

2 letters of recommendation (at least 1 from a current or former supervisor)
PLEASE NOTE: One of the application requirements is a writing sample.
While we recognize that AI tools are important for school leaders (and we incorporate appropriate use of AI in our coursework), it is important that we have a sample of your own personal writing abilities when applying for admission for studies at Texas A&M University-San Antonio.
We are very interested in reading your writing submissions that reflect your own experience and expertise. We are not interested in reading any writing samples that have been created or enhanced by AI. For this submission, you may NOT use AI for any part of the development or writing of your submission. We will use an AI review tool to ensure that the writing sample comes from your personal experiences and expertise. Please feel free to reach out to any one of us if you have any questions.
