Center for Information Technology and Cybersecurity (CITCS)
The Center for Information Technology and Cybersecurity (CITCS) at Texas A&M University-San Antonio (A&M-SA) is designated as a National Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense (NCAE-CD), which is managed by the National Cryptologic School at the National Security Agency (NSA).
The mission of the CITCS is to support the development of a comprehensive IT and cybersecurity education and research program that will prepare TAMU-SA students for cyber careers, develop a sustainable middle-school-to-university cyber student pipeline, increase campus and community cybersecurity awareness, and promote faculty and student research in the fields of IT and cybersecurity. The goals of the CITCS are:
To support IT and cybersecurity education that prepares students for cyber-related careers.
- Monitor student enrollment, graduation, and certificate data for the NSA CDE Certificates in the associated program of study
- Identify and issue NSA CDE Certificates to graduates who met the course requirements
To increase cybersecurity program awareness across the campus and broader community.
- Support cybersecurity-related activities
- Promote collaborations and partnerships in cybersecurity education and research
Funding: The CITCS at A&M-SA is currently funded via the DoW VICEROY federal grant in collaboration with the TAMU Cybersecurity Center.
