The Office of Family Engagement at Texas A&M University-San Antonio connects students’ families and support networks with campus resources and opportunities to participate in the Jaguar community. Through Family Orientation, the Family Association and the family newsletter, parents, guardians, relatives, friends and other supporters can stay informed and engaged in their student’s college experience.

What does Family Engagement do at Texas A&M University–San Antonio?
Family Engagement connects Jaguar families with campus resources and opportunities to participate in university life. The office helps families build connections within the A&M–San Antonio community and support their students’ academic and social experiences.
Who can participate in Family Engagement programs?
A&M–San Antonio welcomes anyone a student considers family or part of their support system. This includes parents, guardians, siblings, grandparents, spouses, partners, extended family members and friends.
What is Family Orientation?
Family Orientation is an on-campus, one-day program for families of admitted students. Participants learn about University traditions, academic resources, student support services and paying for college.
Does Family Orientation take place with student orientation?
Families may choose the same orientation date as their student or a different available date. When attending together, students and families share some opening activities before participating in separate sessions designed for their needs. Visit the Family Orientation page for program details.
What is the A&M–San Antonio Family Association?
The Family Association connects families with their Jaguar students, other families and the university community. Members receive information to help support their students and can participate in opportunities that build a sense of belonging.
How do I join the Family Association?
Visit the Family Association page and follow the membership link to join its WhatsApp community. General members can stay involved throughout their student’s time at A&M–San Antonio, through graduation.
Can family members volunteer or take on a leadership role?
Yes. Family Association executive board members volunteer to help plan, staff and carry out association events. Email family@tamusa.edu to learn about applying for an executive board position.
