Bias Based Profiling

2025 Racial Profiling Report

Annually in compliance with the Texas Code of Criminal Procedure Chapter 2B Law Enforcement Interactions with Public, the A&M-SA Police Department submits racial profiling data and analysis to the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE). The racial profiling data is publicly available on the TCOLE website, https://www.tcole.texas.gov/content/racial-profiling-reports

Two of the fundamental rights guaranteed by the United States and Texas constitutions are equal protection under the law and freedom from unreasonable searches and seizures by government agents. The right of all persons to be treated equally and to be free from unreasonable searches and seizures must be respected. Racial profiling is an unacceptable patrol tactic and will not be condoned.

It is the practice of A&M – SA PD to police proactively and responsibly, and to enforce state and federal laws without regard to ethnic background, gender, sexual orientation, religion, economic status, age, cultural group, or any other identifiable group. All A&M – SA PD officers are expected to conduct themselves in a dignified and respectful manner when dealing with the public.

A&M – SA PD will accept complaints from any person who believes he or she has been stopped or searched based on ethnic background, gender, sexual orientation, religion, economic status, age, cultural group, or any other identifiable group profiling. Complaints should be directed to the University Police Department at (210) 784-1900, by email at police@tamusa.edu, or you may fill out a complaint form and mail it to: Texas A&M University – San Antonio Police Department, ATTN: Chief of Police, One University Way, San Antonio, TX 78224. All complaints will be investigated thoroughly and in a timely manner.
