Safety Tools
SafeZone App
SafeZone is a free mobile app for all University faculty, staff, and students. The app connects you directly to the A&M-SA Police Department when there is an emergency on campus, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Once you activate the app on your phone and request help, your location will be shown on a map for police officers to provide assistance. This call for help will give officers a general location, so you must keep an eye out for responding officers when you are in need.
App registration requires the use of your University email. Download the SafeZone app today from the App Store or Google Play Store.
Jag-E Alert
A&M-SA Police Department Emergency Notification |
In addition to using the web-based system to manage your contact information, you can download the JagE Alert app (Blackboard MyConnect) for your iPhone (Android app currently not available) and activate it using your official University email.
Emergency Notifications:
During an emergency situation, information will be released to the University community through the JagE Alert System. This is a system that quickly notifies registered users of campus emergencies through text messages, emails and/or voicemail alerts. These are issued through the Emergency portion of the JagE Alert system.
Examples of when an Emergency Notification could be sent include (but not limited to):
- Active Shooter
- Bomb Threat
- Pandemic
- Fire
- Evacuations
Timely Warnings:
In the event a situation arises on campus that, in the judgment of the Chief of A&M-SA PD or designee, constitutes a serious or continuous threat, a university‐wide “timely warning” will be issued. Timely Warnings are issued through email only using the Outreach portion of the JagE Alert System.
Timely Warnings are issued for Clery Reportable Crimes and may include:
- Sexual Assault
- Burglaries
- Fondling
- Hate Crimes
Other topics that could be sent using Outreach:
- Weather Closures
- Parking Lot closures
- Exercise/Drill Notifications
