The Quality Enhancement Plan
A quality enhancement plan (QEP) is a research-based, campus-wide project that is designed to improve student learning at A&M-San Antonio. The QEP will become part of A&M-San Antonio’s SACSCOC reaffirmation process in 2019, and it relates to two current SACSCOC standards:
- Core Requirement 2.12: focuses on the topic selection process, and
- Comprehensive Standard 3.3.2: focuses on the development of a proposal that addresses student learning and is appropriate in scope.
Selecting a QEP topic
SACSCOC maintains a list of all past and present QEP topics on its website: https://sacscoc.org/quality-enhancement-plans/. While this list illustrates the wide range of possible QEP topics, A&M-SA’s topic should reflect the needs of our students, our learning outcomes, and our mission. There is no one-size-fits-all QEP topic, and what may be a great QEP for another institution may not work here.
There are several ways to provide suggestions for a QEP topic:

- Contact Kim Nanez, Director of Student & Academic Success Center, to schedule a meeting or a presentation for your group.
Suggestions for a QEP topic have closed.
QEP Final Topic
The final topic chosen is Quantitative Literacy and the plan is titled "Connect the Dots." Work on A&M-SA's Connect the Dots transitioned to the QEP Committee, which developed the final proposal for submission to SACSCOC. The QEP Committee came together and adopted the following two goals as part of the plan:
Goal 1: Establish QL as an essential component of the student experience at A&M-SA.
Tactic 1: Faculty and staff will be able to attend QL workshops throughout the academic year.
Tactic 2: The university will establish the Quantitative Literacy Center along with hiring a QL director.
Tactic 3: A&M-SA students will graduate with at least 2 quantitative literacy courses.
Goal 2: Develop curricular and co-curricular activities to ensure
Tactic 1: Review current A&M-SA courses and co-curricular programs for QL.
Tactic 2: Infuse QL into foundational and upper-level courses so that students will experience it whether they enter as a native A&M-SA or transfer student.

QEP Quantitative Literacy Advisory Committee
The University will be hiring a Quantitative Literacy Director and this person will resume the role of the QEP Chair. The QL Director will work with faculty and staff as part of a QL Advisory Committee.
