About the Bachelor of Science in Water Resources Science and Technology Program

The Water Resources Science and Technology curriculum is designed to help our students gain a holistic understanding of our water resource system and acquire the necessary skills to succeed in future water-related careers. The program is one-of-a-kind in the South Central Texas region, where water security is one of the most pressing needs for sustaining social and economic growth. The program has a strong track record of graduate job placement since its inception in 2019.

Texas A&M University-San Antonio launched the Water Resources Science and Technology (WATR) program to support a vision to help power San Antonio’s blue economy. The WATR programs are intended to create research and educational pathways and partnerships that will help solve San Antonio and regional scientific, technology, outreach and workforce challenges around water resources in the 21st century and beyond.

  • To provide foundational and specialty courses that ensure students’ competence at their prospective jobs.
  • To instill the concept of a water-centered nexus that expands students’ vision, imperative for career advancement.
  • To expose students to a hands-on learning environment (lab work & internships) that helps prepare students with the skill sets needed for the water industry.
