The Master of Arts (M.A.) in Marriage, Couple, and Family Counseling Program satisfies the 60-hour Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) academic requirements. The goal of the program is to develop marriage, couple, and family counselors who are professional, ethical problem-solvers aware of relevant roles, policies, technology, and legalities in the counseling field.

Application Instructions

  • Complete the GradCAS application
  • Submit application fee ($49 for domestic; $69 for international)
  • Submit the following required documents:
    • Official e-transcripts from all US institutions attended are to be sent to GradCAS through their online order portal. If your institution does not have official e-transcripts available, they can be mailed to the GradCAS processing center.
    • International Students: Credentialing reports of transcripts from all foreign institutions can be sent electronically through the World Education Services (WES) link in the Academic History section of the application or by mail if using another credentialing agency.
      • Provide English-proficiency exam information: TOEFL: 550 (paper-based) or 79 (internet-based), IELTS: 6.0

    • Personal statement outlining the reason fro applying for this graduate degree, career goals, and research interests. (3 pages)

Prerequisites

  • 2.75 cumulative GPA (or 3.0 last 60 Credit Hours)
  • Interview with Counseling faculty

The Department has the right to examine the students' prerequisites, accept equivalent hours, or require additional work.

*Students falling below the GPA minimum are encouraged to apply. Students are evaluated holistically based on several criteria.
