Program Admission
Admissions: The Educational Diagnostician program admits students once a year for a spring start date. Applications are not accepted for summer or fall terms. The upcoming admission cycle is for Spring 2027 (beginning in January 2027).
Priority Application Deadline: August 1st
Final Application Deadline: September 1st
To apply, students must complete both the Graduate Studies application in Gradcas and a separate application for the Educational Diagnostician program. Applicants are strongly encouraged to submit all required documents early. These include the application form, letter of intent, resume, professional letters of recommendation, Texas teaching service record for all TEA-accredited schools or districts where the applicant has been employed, and a valid TEA teaching certificate. All materials must be received by 5:00 PM Central Time on the deadline date. Incomplete applications will not be considered.
Admission Decisions: Applications are reviewed, and candidates who meet the admission criteria will be invited to an interview as part of the selection process. Once the cohort is full, additional applicants will be placed on a waitlist and notified if a spot becomes available. Applicants may also opt to be considered for the following year's cohort.

- Official e-transcripts from all US institutions attended are to be sent to GradCAS through their online order portal. If your institution does not have official e-transcripts available, they can be mailed to the GradCAS processing center.

- We strongly encourage contacting potential faculty mentor(s) prior to applying to the program to ensure sufficient space in Faculty labs and compatibility of research interests. Please select up to three faculty members in ranking order of priority.

- 2.6 cumulative GPA (or 3.0 last 60 hrs)
- Teaching Certificate
- 3 years of classroom experience
- Master's Degree
*Students falling below the GPA minimum are encouraged to apply. Students are evaluated holistically based on several criteria
