Full-time First Time In College Students (FTICs)

6-Year Graduation Goal: 40% | 8-Year Graduation Goal: 45%

To establish aspirational 6-year and 8-year graduation goals, a review of graduation rates for public universities in Texas was conducted. Removing the state's two flagship universities from the 2014 cohort data, the aggregate graduation rates for the other public universities in Texas were 49% (6-year rate) and 52% (8-year rate). Further analysis indicates a correlation between the percentage increase of Hispanic first-time in college (FTIC) students and the increase from 6-year to 8-year graduation rates. Given the institution's high Hispanic student profile, the 6-year graduation rate can serve as a reliable indicator of the 8-year graduation rate trend.

Full-time Transfer Students

Part-time Transfer Students

4-Year Graduation Goal: 54% | 6-Year Graduation Goal: 61%

8-Year Graduation Goal: 63%

In reviewing data for A&M-SA transfer students, it was noted that outcome measures over an 8-year period resulted in an average of 71% for full-time students and 60% for part-time students. A comparative analysis was conducted based on national and state averages. Based on IPEDS data from the 2015-16 cohort, national outcome measures were 56.9% and 23.5% for full-time and part-time students, respectively. Comparatively, the overall state outcome measures were slightly lower at 52.8% and 20.1% for full-time and part-time students, respectively. While national and state averages range from 56.9% to 52.8%, A&M-SA has done considerably well in this regard. It should be noted that A&M-SA experienced downward expansion in 2016. Before this period, the university served as an upper-division school only. As such, outcome measures are 15-20% higher when compared to the state average.

The purpose of this summary is to provide you an opportunity to view some of the data that, when accepted through the IPEDS quality control process, will appear on the College Navigator website and/or your institution’s Data Feedback Report (DFR). In addition, all data reported in IPEDS survey components become publicly available through the IPEDS Use the Data and appear as aggregated statistics in various Department of Education reports. College Navigator is updated approximately three months after the data collection period closes and DFRs will be available through the IPEDS Use the Data and sent to your institution’s CEO at the end of 2025.
