Eligibility
Benefits eligibility and contribution to the Teacher Retirement System:
The employee must work at least 20 hours per week (at least 50% full time appointment) and continue in the employment for a term of at least 4.5 months.
Medical
The A&M Care plan is administered by Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas (BCBSTX), with Express Scripts administering the prescription drug portion.
State Group Insurance Premium
Funds received from the State of Texas to offset benefit premiums. Benefits eligible employees will begin receiving a monthly employer contribution the first of the month after the 60th day of employment.
Mandatory Retirement Programs
Contribution percentages are set by the Texas Legislature yearly. All employees who are benefits eligible are enrolled into the Teachers Retirement System (TRS). There are specific positions who are eligible to participate in the Optional Retirement Program, please check with our Benefits team for future questions.

Basic Life Insurance $7,500 - automatically included with medical plan
Alternate Basic Life Insurance $50,000 or the amount of optional life an employee had immediately before enrolling in the plan whichever is less, as well as $5,000 in Basic AD&D Coverage

Child Life Insurance on each eligible dependent Child: $5,000
