Meet Scout - Victim Assistance Dog in Training

 

 

 

 

Born: March 4, 2023

Scout's main job is to be trained to comfort crime victims and witnesses when they are in the office and help them to reduce their stress. It has been documented that crime victims open up and feel more comfortable while merely in the presence of a loving dog.

 

 

 

 

Workday:
  • Training

  • Snores all day long to keep Officer Tucker awake 

  • Greets everyone in the office to try to get some treats

Training:
  • Puppy class
  • Obedience class for advance skills
In Progress Training:
CANINE GOOD CITIZEN, CGC is an AKC (American Kennel Club) sponsored program designed to recognize and award the CGC title to dogs that have good manners at home and in the community. This is a two-part program that stresses responsible pet ownership for owners and good manners for dogs. This course will prepare you and your dog for the 10-part test to receive the certificate from AKC.

Victim Assistance Dog 2016-2024: Oakley

 


 

 

 

Born: August 26, 2016

Oakley’s main job was to comfort crime victims and witnesses when they are in the office and help them to reduce their stress. Oakley loved to walk around campus to visit students, faculty and staff.  He loved to have people pet him.  Oakley was a great liaison for our department.

 

 

 

 

 Workday:

  • Walk and visit folks around campus
  • Takes a nap so I can get some work done
  • Likes going to events and be invited to departments for a visit
Training:
  • Puppy class
