Bachelor of Arts in English with Teacher Certification
The English Major with Teacher Certification program prepares students for Texas certification (grades 7–12) and a career as an English Language Arts and Reading teacher. Students take both Education and English classes and work closely with faculty mentors, and have the opportunity to gain practical experience in local schools, including a year-long paid residency.
Career Opportunities
Our program prepares students for careers as certified public school teachers, as well as careers teaching in private schools and pursuing a graduate degree so that they can teach at the college level.
Faculty Highlights
Students learn and receive extensive mentorship from experienced and distinguished faculty in both the English Program and the College of Education and Human Development, many of whom are former public-school teachers with strong connections to local schools and educators.
