About the Bachelor of Science in Biology, Concentration in Ecology Program
The Ecology concentration at Texas A&M University–San Antonio immerses students in the study of organisms and their interactions with the environment. With required coursework in Ecology, Conservation and Restoration Ecology, Field Biology, and Plant Physiology or Taxonomy, this concentration emphasizes both the theoretical foundations and practical field skills essential for understanding and protecting natural ecosystems. San Antonio’s position at the crossroads of multiple ecoregions—including the Edwards Plateau, South Texas Plains, and Blackland Prairie—provides an exceptional outdoor classroom for ecological study. Students develop expertise in biodiversity assessment, environmental monitoring, and data-driven conservation strategies.
