About the Bachelor of Applied Arts and Sciences in Early Childhood Concentration Program

The Early Childhood Education Concentration (non-certification) degree plan is ideal for current and prospective caregivers or early childhood professionals who wish to learn more about working with young children ages birth to eight and their families. As a Bachelor of Applied Arts & Sciences, this option may be the degree of choice for someone who has earned their associate’s degree at a community college or who will not be pursuing an advanced degree after graduation.

Faculty Highlights

Dr. Melissa Jozwiak, faculty lead for Young Jaguars and Educare. She is PI or Co-PI on grants totaling over $8.9 million, author or co-author on over $6.8 million in external research or laboratory school contracts, and led the $20 million capital campaign to fund Educare San Antonio. She is the co-author of Continuity in Children’s Worlds: Choices and Consequences for Early Childhood Settings.

Dr. Maria Acevedo Aquino serves on the Executive Board for the Worlds of Words (WOW), an organization focused on global children's literature.

Dr. Socorro Garcia is also the Co-PI on a federal grant and oversees the parental practices and family engagement on the project.
