Guidelines on Isolation and Quarantine

If you have tested positive for COVID-19 at any testing provider on or off campus, including a home test kit, the following procedures must be followed regardless of whether you have been vaccinated or received a booster:

  • Isolate and remain off campus for 5 days, beginning from the date of the confirmed positive test result. For example, if you tested positive on January 8, you will be eligible to return to campus on January 13 if the below conditions have been met
  • Monitor symptoms daily and able to affirm the following:
    • Symptoms are entirely resolved on Day 5 of isolation.
    • Fever has resided (without the use of fever-reducing medication) for at least 24 hours prior to Day 5. For example, if you tested positive on January 8, fever should not have been present on January 12 and 13.
  • Voluntarily wear a well-fitting mask at all times on campus for an additional 5 days.
  • It is preferred that the isolation period be extended to 10 days if:
    • Symptoms have not resolved.
    • You are unwilling to voluntarily wear a well-fitting mask at all times while on campus for an additional 5 days.

If you are experiencing symptoms consistent with COVID-19 but have not confirmed positivity through a test, and you are more than 6 months from the date of your second vaccine dose and have not received a booster dose, the following procedures must be followed:

  • Isolate and remain off campus for 5 days, beginning the date symptoms first appeared.
  • Monitor symptoms daily and be able to affirm the following:
    • Symptoms are entirely resolved on Day 5 of isolation
    • Fever has resided (without the use of fever-reducing medication) for at least 24 hours prior to Day 5.
  • Voluntarily wear a well-fitting mask at all times on campus for an additional 5 days.
  • It is preferred that the isolation period be extended to 10 days if:
    • Symptoms have not resolved
    • You are unwilling to voluntarily wear a mask at all times while on campus for an additional 5 days.

If you have been exposed to COVID-19 and you are not vaccinated, or it has been more than 6 months since your second dose of vaccine, the following procedures must be followed:

  • Quarantine for 5 days after the exposure date, during which time you must monitor your symptoms.
  • If at any time you develop symptoms, your isolation schedule resets to begin the day symptoms first appeared (see symptoms consistent with COVID-19 guidelines).
  • If no symptoms appear in the 5 days, you may return to campus, but must be willing to wear a well-fitting mask for an additional 5 days and continue to monitor for symptoms.

If you have been exposed to COVID-19 and you have received a booster shot, the following procedures must be followed:

  • You may return to campus if you are not experiencing symptoms and are willing to wear a well-fitting mask for 10 days beginning the date after exposure.
  • If symptoms appear, isolation will begin immediately and the guidelines for symptoms of COVID-19 must be followed
