Public Use of Face Coverings

On Apr. 16, the City of San Antonio and Bexar County release their 5th Declaration for the Addendum Stay Home Work Safe measures. The declaration says all people 10 years or older must wear a cloth face covering over their nose and mouth when in a public place where it is difficult to keep six feet away from other people such as visiting a grocery store/pharmacy or working in areas that involve close proximity with other coworkers.  Coverings may include homemade masks, scarfs, bandanas, or a handkerchief.

A&M-San Antonio is complying with this order by providing face coverings and training for employees.  Below are a few resources provided by the CDC on how to properly wear a face mask to help slow the spread of COVID-19.

How to Wear Cloth Face Coverings

Cloth face coverings should:

  • fit snugly but comfortably against the side of the face
  • be secured with ties or ear loops
  • include multiple layers of fabric
  • allow for breathing without restriction
  • be able to be laundered and machine dried without damage or change to shape
