Guests During Move-In

Move-In day is an exciting time for students, friends, and family. Students are typically accompanied by many of their supporters who want to be a part of their milestone and send off processes. To alleviate traffic congestion, we ask that you limit your total number of vehicles to two or fewer. Parking in unloading zones will be limited. Vehicles not carrying student’s belongings will be required to remain in Lot 3 where you initially checked in. Only vehicles carrying student’s belongings should navigate to the residence halls for valet drop off. After all belongings have been unloaded, only the student’s vehicle with the appropriate tag will be able to remain in the adjacent residential lot. All other vehicles must be moved back to Lot 3. The university will provide shuttle service via golf cart between Lot 3 and the residence halls throughout move in day or guests are able to also walk across campus and check it out. August in San Antonio is typically very hot and humid. Take into account the guests you bring, equip yourself with hydration and snacks. While we take the load off with unloading and moving in, these remain major considerations.

Packing

Decorating your room is one of the best things about living on campus. Review the list below for items that are allowed in your room and some that should be left at home. Consult with your roommate to help coordinate who brings what.

Pack your belongings in smaller, more manageable boxes and suitcases. Consider leaving your winter clothing until later in the semester.

We encourage you to bring a small hand cart, dolly, or other moving equipment for assistance on move-in day. We’ve got you covered for moving bins!
