Types of Study Abroad Programs

Texas A&M University–San Antonio offers a variety of study abroad opportunities that allow students to earn academic credit while gaining meaningful international experience.

Faculty-led programs:

Faculty-led programs are designed and led by Texas A&M–San Antonio faculty members. Students travel abroad as part of a course and complete academic assignments throughout the program.

These programs typically include 2–4 weeks abroad, pre-departure preparation, and coursework connected to the host destination. Faculty members accompany students and provide academic guidance during the experience.

Embedded courses:

Embedded courses are regular Texas A&M–San Antonio classes that include a short-term international travel component.

Students complete most of the coursework on campus during the semester and participate in a short study abroad experience, usually during spring break or immediately after the term ends. The travel component is directly integrated into the course content.

Partner Programs:

Some study abroad opportunities are offered in collaboration with international education partners who support travel logistics, housing, and on-site coordination, while Texas A&M–San Antonio maintains academic oversight.

Partner organizations may include:
