Financial Aid and Scholarships

Students participating in Texas A&M University–San Antonio study abroad programs approved for academic credit may be eligible to use financial aid to help cover program costs.

Eligible students may apply for assistance through the Office of Scholarships & Financial Aid, including:

Participation in an approved study abroad program may be considered enrollment at Texas A&M–San Antonio for federal student aid purposes. Students must meet all eligibility requirements to receive aid.

International Education Fee Scholarship:

Texas A&M University–San Antonio students accepted into a study abroad program may be eligible for the International Education Fee (IEF) Scholarship.

This scholarship helps support students participating in approved study abroad programs.

*Important: There is no separate application for this scholarship. Students must apply through Scholarship Universe.

Eligibility requirements:

To be considered for the International Education Fee Scholarship, students must:

  • Be currently enrolled at Texas A&M University–San Antonio

  • Be accepted into an approved study abroad program

  • Maintain a minimum TAMUSA GPA of 2.5 for undergraduate students or 3.0 for graduate students

  • Be enrolled in at least 6 credit hours during the term of participation

Students who complete their degree requirements before departure or during the study abroad program are not eligible for this scholarship, unless an exception is approved under special circumstances.

Cost of Attendance Adjustments:

The Cost of Attendance (COA) may be adjusted to reflect the cost of the study abroad program. Students who need additional aid may submit a Financial Aid Revision Form to the Office of Scholarships & Financial Aid.

Important Payment Information:

Financial aid is typically disbursed on the first day of on-campus classes. Funds cannot be released earlier, even if a study abroad program begins before that date.

Students should plan ahead, as program deposits and some fees may need to be paid before financial aid is disbursed.
