Marla has over 32 years of experience in public higher education administration.  She joined A&M-SA retiring from The University of Texas at Austin after 29 years, where she served in various executive finance and operation roles, including Associate Vice President for Campus Services and Chief Business Officer.  She was a former director of Internal Audit and Texas State Auditor.  She holds a BBA in Accounting from Pan American University (now The University of Texas-Rio Grande Valley).  She is a Certified Public Accountant.

Marla has joined A&M-SA on an interim basis, reporting directly to President Ochoa.  She oversees finance, budget, and procurement.
