For Students

Getting Started

Have a question about joining Dual Credit or Early College High School? Contact our office. We can explain the university side of the program and work with your high school counselor or program representative on school-specific enrollment steps, course options, and deadlines.

Questions About Your Course

Your instructor is the best person to answer questions about assignments, exams, and grades. We encourage you to communicate with your instructor directly. If you are unsure how to reach them or need help resolving a course concern, contact our office and we will help you determine the next step.

University Support Available to You

Depending on your needs, university support may include:

  • Student Academic Success Center and tutoring
  • University library
  • Academic advising
  • Disability support services
  • Student counseling
  • Technology and account assistance

Start with Early College & Academic Partnerships if you would like to use one of these resources. Our office can explain what is available to you and help you reach the appropriate team.

Planning Beyond High School

Our office can help you learn about Dual Credit Transfer Guides, university advising, and the Greater Texas Foundation Scholars Program for eligible Early College High School graduates. Contact us to discuss your goals and the next steps.

For Parents and Families

You can contact Early College & Academic Partnerships with general questions about Dual Credit, Early College High School, and the support available to students. Our office will help you understand where to begin and coordinate with the appropriate school or university team when needed.

How You Can Support Your Student

  • Ask your student to walk you through their course syllabus and important due dates.
  • Help them make time each week to check announcements, study, and complete assignments.
  • Encourage them to ask their instructor questions directly and practice speaking up when they need help.
  • Check in about their workload and encourage them to contact our office early if they need support.
  • Talk with them about their goals after high school and celebrate the progress they make.

Student Privacy and FERPA

We can answer general program questions without discussing a student’s private record. To discuss your student’s individual college information, such as grades or course progress, the student must complete a FERPA release naming you, and the release must be on file with the university. Contact our office for information about how your student can complete the release.

Where to Start With a Question

Email Early College & Academic Partnerships at earlycollege@tamusa.edu. Tell us whether your question is about enrollment, a course, a university resource, or planning after high school. We will help you identify the right next step. School-specific enrollment information may also involve your high school counselor or program representative.
