Tips and Testimonials

Start off on the right foot
Attend Transfer Assemblies, doing this allows you to meet the transfer team, campus resources, and network with other students who will be in your major.
Lean on the Transfer Center
We encourage our transfer students to utilize our team and lean on us for support (Joining the Silver Liners can help tremendously too). We're all transfer students here and know it comes with unique challenges, but we're here to help.
Get out there

Put yourself out there; there’s a common narrative amongst our students that they are "just here for classes" or that they “wont fit in” - it’s simply not the truth - we have an big adult learner demographic, full time workers, stay at home parents, and student parents juggling it all. You add important insight to our student body and your experiences are valued here. Get involved and embrace the experience!

Take advantage of campus resources
Utilize A&M-SA‘s wide variety of campus resources, you pay for them so we want you to take advantage of them!
Meet with your Academic Advisor
Make plans to meet with your academic advisor twice an academic year to map out your degree plan, ensure you’re on the right path and discuss your future goals. This keeps you progressing forward effectively and can save you money ensuring you're only taking the courses you need.
Stay awhile
We understand you have competing priorities, but stay on campus as often as you can. A lot of learning happens outside of the classroom; find leadership opportunities, networking connections, and make memories on campus with new friends by staying an extra hour when and where you can. College is about expanding your horizons.
