Financial Literacy
Financial literacy is the ability to understand and effectively manage your financial resources. It involves skills like budgeting, saving, understanding credit, and making informed financial decisions.
For college students, financial literacy is especially crucial—it helps you navigate the costs of education, manage student loans, and build healthy financial habits that set you up for long-term success.
What are Campus is Doing
We are working with First Year Seminar and other classes to acquaint our Jaguars with our curriculum! Ask your instructor if you’re interested. Request a presentation
On-Campus Engagement and Events:
We have a variety of events to share with you from Financial Literacy Week in the Fall to Money Smart Week in the Spring, plus weekly tabling. See JagSync for details.
Students can meet with the campus Financial Education Coordinator in the Mays Center to learn about resources available to meet their specific financial goals. Appointments can be made by emailing David Galvan, Financial Education Coordinator.
Off-Campus:
We regularly partner with Junior Achievement of South Texas to work with neighboring independent school districts so younger students can achieve financial literacy and capability before they reach higher education status! Through a generous donation from Amerigroup, we also create on- and off-campus programs for our students and the greater San Antonio community.
